About us
Gateway Nerds was started by people on the autism spectrum, who remain at its heart as regular members and volunteer Game Masters.
We exist because a game on the table gives social contact a shape. Shared rules, a shared focus and taking turns let people spend time together, and be part of something, without the pressure of open-ended conversation.
Everyone who comes along is a member. All the group’s money goes on running it, and nobody is paid.

Who runs the group
- Grand Meeples
Our committee, a Chair, a Secretary and a Treasurer. They run the group day to day.
- Game Masters
Volunteers who run games, teach rules and look after people at sessions.
- Members
Everyone who comes along.
Under 18s
From our Code of Conduct:
- Attendees under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times during any Gateway Nerds session, public or private.
- The parent or legal guardian remains the responsible adult for the minor throughout the session and must not leave the venue while the minor is in attendance.
- If the parent or legal guardian leaves, the minor must leave with them.
- Specific sessions or venues may apply additional or different age policies. The Tavern, for example, has its own minors policy set out in the Tavern Rules §3.
- Organisers may decline attendance of a minor at their discretion if these conditions cannot be met.
